SEMPORNA: Chief Minister Shafie Apdal told his ministers and elected representatives today that they will be dropped if they are found to be involved in corruption.

He said those found involved in irregularities will not be nominated to contest in the next general election.

“The priority of the state government is taking care of the people.

“Let no minister, elected representative or government officer be involved in corruption.

“We have to change our style of administration (from the previous government),” he told residents here during a Chinese New Year gathering.

Shafie told the people to be patient as programmes undertaken by the government would take some time to produce results.

“We have only administered Sabah for about eight months.”

He also said the state government was stepping up cooperation and participation with Petronas to benefit from downstream oil and gas activities.

“I will have discussions with Petronas.

“We have many upstream oil and gas industries but we (the state government) are incapable of involving ourselves in these ventures.

“However, I believe we can participate in downstream industries because we have the infrastructure, for example, the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park and the Palm Oil Industrial Cluster,” he said.
