KUALA TERENGGANU: Seberang Takir assemblyman Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman has resigned as the opposition leader for the Terengganu legislative assembly, according to the state Umno liaison committee.

Its deputy chairman, Din Adam, said today that Terengganu Umno received a copy of the resignation letter from Razif on Feb 4.

“Hence, we urge the Terengganu state legislative assembly to write to Terengganu Umno for a new name to be proposed as the opposition leader.

“Terengganu Umno has yet to meet to decide on the candidate. This will be decided by the chairman of the Terengganu Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

The media in Terengganu received a WhatsApp message today saying that Razif, who is a former menteri besar, had resigned from the post and had informed Terengganu state assembly speaker Yahaya Ali in writing on Feb 4.

Yahaya, when contacted by Bernama, said he had not received the letter as he was on leave. Razif and Ahmad could not be reached.
