PETALING JAYA: PPBM has hit out at Dr Boo Cheng Hau for demanding Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s resignation after claiming that the veteran statesman had belittled Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) pledges in its election manifesto.

PPBM Supreme Council member Muhammad Faiz Na’aman described the call by the Johor DAP state committee member as “insolent” as it negated Mahathir’s contribution in overthrowing the Barisan Nasional in the May 9 polls.

Faiz said PH members were allowed to reprimand their leaders but it should be done through proper channels and in a respectful manner.

“By openly attacking the prime minister and his administration, you are only providing ammunition for the other side and it is treacherous,” he said in a statement today.

In calling for Mahathir to step down earlier today, Boo said the PH chairman’s statement last July that the manifesto was “a guide, not a bible” showed that he had no confidence in himself or the manifesto.

“It is silly self-degradation for some PH leaders to profess that there would not have been any change of government without Mahathir’s leadership,” the former Skudai assemblyman said.

But Faiz said Boo should be aware of the fact that Mahathir and his Cabinet were working hard to fulfil their pledges.

“And what are you doing, apart from spewing rhetoric and trying to be a hero in DAP?”

He also dismissed Boo’s criticism of PPBM’s decision to accept former Umno MPs, claiming that even DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang has accepted those who had defected to the ruling coalition.
