KUALA LUMPUR: Five fire engines were sent to douse a blaze on the fourth floor of a building along Jalan Chow Kit here today.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the building, which is level with the monorail track heading towards Chow Kit.
Police also arrived at the scene to control traffic.
Fire department officers from the Titiwangsa branch took 30 to 45 minutes to put out the fire.
“The fire started from one of the rooms in a hotel but did not spread. The door was solid and fire-proof,” he said.
The forensic officers from the fire department will investigate the cause of the fire.
The hotel operator, who did not want to be named, told FMT he was glad he had invested in fire-proof doors.
“All my other 40 rooms are safe,” he said.
