KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Assistant Finance Minister Kenny Chua has denied a Facebook post attributed to him in which he supposedly used foul language to run down Prime Minister and PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Chua, who is also the Inanam assemblyman and Penampang PKR chief, said he did not upload the Facebook status and accused a local news portal of being behind it.

“Why would I do such a thing? I am not crazy. The portal spun the story to demonise me. I never uploaded the status on my Facebook page,” he told FMT today.

Chua reiterated his support for the current state government and insisted that Sabahans can no longer afford to be subjected to the “divide and rule” philosophy of certain leaders.

He said although he was disappointed with PPBM’s decision to enter Sabah, the party had every right to come to the state.

“However, I hope it won’t accept former Umno leaders into their ranks. That is our point in our initial objection,” he said.

Screenshots of the alleged Facebook post have been going around on social media and received condemnation from netizens, especially former Umno supporters and potential PPBM members.

Since Mahathir made the announcement on Feb 15 that PPBM will spread its wings into Sabah, Warisan supporters and their allies have spoken out against the prime minister and even demanded that Chief Minister and Warisan president Shafie Apdal stand his ground and not allow PPBM to come in.

Nevertheless, on Feb 18, Shafie said that PPBM cannot be stopped from entering Sabah and pleaded for calm from his supporters.
