KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman today announced a comprehensive “ecosystem” job portal to help youths seek job opportunities.
He said the portal would help solve the problem of unemployment among graduates nowadays.
“Using artificial intelligence, the portal will direct youths to the industry that matches their skills.
“It will also benefit the employers as the portal will notify them of young talents which can be absorbed into the industry,” he said after officiating the memorandum of understanding signing between Smart Trends International and UK awarding organisation National Open College Network here.
The portal will be developed by Smart Trends International, an organisational consulting firm specialising in business transformation and human capital solutions.
In 2017, the youth unemployment rate was estimated to be three times higher than the national unemployment rate at 10.8%.
The PPBM Youth chief also warned the Pakatan Harapan government not to underestimate matters in the Rantau by-election following its defeat in Semenyih last Saturday.
He said PH must not concentrate only on winning, but also on how to serve the people better.
“We should not take it easy. Think of how we can serve the people and work harder than we did before this.
“Before we think of any chances, it is better for us to serve. Once we have improved our services, then the chances (to win) will be brighter,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the programme.
