Two remanded over killing of Irishman in Penang

IT manager Brian Patrick O’Reilly was found dead at his apartment on Monday.

GEORGE TOWN: Two people were today remanded for three days in connection with the murder of an Irish national, Brian Patrick O’Reilly.

The 37-year-old woman and 43-year-old man were brought before Senior Assistant Registrar Musa Maria Azmin at the Magistrate’s Court, who granted the remand application.

The man is believed to be one of three men last seen with O’Reilly at his apartment at MBf Tower at Northam Road on Friday night, police said.

The body of O’Reilly, 50, an IT manager, was found in his apartment by a real estate agent on Monday evening.

O’Reilly, who moved to Penang to work for a Singapore-based company last month, had stab wounds to his stomach, slash marks on his neck and injuries to his head.

Police found a note at the scene which read: “I respect the police and still do but justice sometimes has to be gained. I hate you mafia killing scammers. I love my girl and she is dead.”

The note was written on a piece of paper which appeared to be torn from the first page of the book “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F***”.
