PETALING JAYA: A police officer told the Magistrate’s Court here today that actor and film director Farid Kamil suffered injuries on the forehead as he became aggressive when he was detained at the Kota Damansara police station lockup last year.
Criminal investigating officer Mohd Faizal Abdullah, 33, said police had taken Farid to the University Malaya Medical Centre at 6am on Jan 13 last year for treatment after being informed that he was injured two hours earlier.
“However, I did not witness the incident and was only informed by the lockup guard that he saw the actor strike his head against a faucet.
“He did not receive any stitches for the injury,” he said when cross-examined by Farid’s lawyer, Megat Syazlee Mokhtarom.
Faizal, the fifth prosecution witness, said the lockup guard had also urged Farid to stop acting in such a manner as it was disturbing the other detainees.
He disagreed with the lawyer’s suggestion that Farid was behaving aggressively as the actor was not in the right frame of mind.
Instead, he sent Farid for a urine test because he suspected Farid was under the influence of drugs.
Asked if he had checked the closed-circuit television footage at the police station, Faizal said the station was not equipped with such a facility.
On Jan 16 last year, Farid claimed trial to two counts of causing hurt, one count of criminal force and one count of indecent behaviour at the police station.
The trial before magistrate Nor Ariffin Hisham continues on April 23.
