JOHOR BAHRU: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, today dismissed allegations that he had shown little concern about the chemical pollution of Sungai Kim Kim in Pasir Gudang.
On the contrary, Sultan Ibrahim said he had been receiving up-to-date reports on the chemical waste pollution and on the progress of the clean-up work being carried out by the authorities as well as the total number of victims who were receiving treatment.
“I take seriously the chemical waste pollution in Pasir Gudang and always follow all the developments related to the incident. “Even today, I also received the latest report from the Johor State Disaster Management Committee,” he said in a statement issued by the royal press office and posted on the Ruler’s official Facebook account.
Sultan Ibrahim also visited the victims at the hospital with the Permaisuri of Johor, Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, and the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
“At the same time, we are also very concerned about the needs of the rescue teams so that chemical waste cleaning works can be carried out properly,” said Sultan Ibrahim.
