SEREMBAN: In the midst of a busy campaign for the Rantau by-election, a member of Puteri Umno caught the public’s eye by bursting into song at the local night market.
Nurul Fadzilah Nordin, publicity chief of Kota Belud Umno in Sabah, noticed a visually-impaired busker who only wanted to be known as Mohd Nor, sitting in the middle of the pasar malam.
She stepped forward, took the microphone from his hand, and started singing.
Her voice mesmerised the crowd and donations poured in for Mohd Nor, the performance made even more touching when the Sabahan lass serenaded the crowd with the song “Semakin Hari Semakin Sayang” by Uji Rashid.
Fadzilah told FMT later that she sincerely wanted to help Mohd Nor earn a living, and she could put her singing talent to use.
Fadzilah and a team of Sabah Barisan Nasional supporters are here to help campaign for BN candidate, acting Umno president Mohamad Hasan, who seeks re-election to a fourth term as Rantau assemblyman.
She said the supporters would stay until polling day, April 13.
The Rantau by-election is a four-cornered fight between Mohamad, Pakatan Harapan’s Dr S Streram, and independent candidates Mohd Nor Yassin and R Malarvizhi.
