Motion expected to suspend Najib for 3 months over embargo

Former prime minister Najib Razak.

KUALA LUMPUR: A motion will be put forth in the Dewan Rakyat today to suspend Najib Razak for three months after the former prime minister was believed to have violated an embargo on the Felda White Paper tabled in the lower house yesterday.

The motion to suspend Najib, listed in the Parliament Order Paper, states that the Pekan MP breached Clause 95A of the Standing Orders.

On Tuesday, Najib reportedly posted excerpts of the white paper concerning Felda’s purchase of a 37% stake in Indonesia’s Eagle High Plantation on his Facebook.

This was despite an embargo on the document which was only lifted at 11.30am yesterday.

The motion is expected to be tabled later today.
