PETALING JAYA: Police today said that a bomb threat at a medical university, which led to the evacuation of students, was a hoax.

Cheras police chief Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said the bomb disposal unit did not find any explosives following a sweep of the International Medical University (IMU) in Bukit Jalil here.

IMU staff and students, who had been evacuated from the building, were later allowed to enter the premises at 4.30pm.

“We are investigating the incident for criminal intimidation,” he said in a statement.

It was earlier reported that the students were told to vacate the premises by IMU’s management after they received a call claiming that there were explosives in the building.

Roads leading to the university were also temporarily blocked.
