PETALING JAYA: Osman Sapian is to be replaced as chairman of Johor PPBM, weeks after he resigned as menteri besar amid tensions between Putrajaya and the Johor palace.
PPBM Johor media director Mohd Solihan Badri said the change was nothing out of the ordinary, because he had stepped down as Johor menteri besar. “It’s a normal practice,” he said when contacted.
Earlier today a media report had claimed that PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin would be stepping down as Johor PPBM chairman.
However, Mohd Solihan and PPBM secretary-general Marzuki Yahya told FMT they were misquoted in the report, which has since been taken down.
They said Muhyiddin is not the head of Johor PPBM but chairman of Johor Pakatan Harapan, so there was no question of him stepping down from the party post.
After Osman resigned, Bukit Kepong assemblyman Dr Sahruddin Jamal was sworn in as Johor’s 17th menteri besar.
