Yapeim chief Abibullah’s fate in hands of board, says Fuziah

Abibullah Samsudin.

KUANTAN: Any action to be taken against Abibullah Samsudin, director-general of Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (Yapeim) will be decided by the foundation’s board, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Fuziah Salleh.

Fuziah said this was in line with the Pakatan Harapan administration’s stand that the “buck stops with the board”.

(Abibullah is alleged to have tried to influence the foundation’s staff over how they should vote in last year’s general election. In a video posted online, he is seen to be saying: “I will check with the Election Commission on all Yapeim staff, I will check one by one, where you voted and who you voted for. If there are those who vote for Pakatan Harapan, you are not fit to work in Yapeim.”)

Fuziah told reporters today that she believed the board would “take the appropriate action” and that the chairman (of the foundation) would make a statement on the matter soon.

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil lodged a police report today about the video featuring Abibullah.
