DAP man arrested for alleged criminal intimidation

PETALING JAYA: Police have detained a Pahang DAP leader for alleged criminal intimidation involving a WhatsApp message to the Jerantut police chief.

The man was arrested at the Jerantut police headquarters at 1.30pm today, and his mobile phone seized, police from Jerantut confirmed.

The WhatsApp message had said that “Sesiapa nak lawan PH, akan datang dia pun tak boleh aman” (“Whoever wants to go against PH won’t be at peace in future”), according to screen capture images sighted by FMT.

The images show that the message was sent to the Jerantut district police chief by the DAP man.

According to the images of the message, the DAP man was angry at being arrested on May 16 when he had tried to stop police from detaining the district DAP secretary in an investigation into the sale of illicit cigarettes and liquor, and confiscation of the goods.

A police report was lodged by the Jerantut police chief, and the DAP man was arrested when he turned up at Jerantut police headquarters today.

FMT is awaiting a response from the DAP man and Pahang police.
