Huguan Siou approves move to re-unite KDM community

KENINGAU: A proposal to reunite the Kadazandusun and Murut community in Sabah, overcoming political differences, has been approved by the Huguan Siou (paramount leader of the community, according to Warisan vice-president Peter Anthony.

He said he had asked the Huguan Siou, Joseph Pairin Kitingan, to lead talks on bringing KDM leaders together to discuss the direction of the community for future generations

Peter said the proposal for unity in the KDM community was put forward to Pairin at a meeting in early May relating to the Pesta Kaamatan (the community’s harvest festival) for solidarity among KDM leaders.

“We are all under one roof, all this while the KDM community was split because of political differences,” he told reporters after officiating the Keningau district Pesta Kaamatan here.

Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association deputy president Jeffrey Kitingan said he supported the move as it augured well for the community.
