KOTA KINABALU: Grab driver Mohd Hanafiee Jaffar was stabbed in the chest multiple times, police revealed today.
Sabah police chief Omar Mammah said police are still waiting for the official cause of death but the 27-year-old had several stab wounds in the right chest.
“But we have yet to retrieve the weapon used in the murder-cum-robbery,” he told FMT today.
Sabah police yesterday announced they had arrested two men in connection with the robbery-cum-murder of Hanafiee, whose body was found dumped in some bushes in Sabandar, Tuaran, near here.
Police arrested two suspects at the parking lot of the 1Borneo Hypermall on Monday — a 24-year-old Sabahan and a foreigner, aged 20. The motive is believed to be robbery.
Omar said, based on records shared by Grab, Hanafiee had picked up the suspects at Kingfisher Park in Likas here to go to Tuaran at 4am on May 24, the day he was last seen.
Hanafiee’s car was found parked near a Ramadan bazaar in Indah Permai near here at 12.30am on May 26.
The car was locked but there were blood stains on the steering wheel, handbrake, the inside windscreen and the front door.
Sabah CID chief Jauteh Dikun said Hanafiee had probably put up a fight before he was overcome by the suspects.
“The suspects have been remanded for a maximum seven days from Monday to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said.
