Passenger attacks Grab driver with hammer and air gun in Kuching
Cops are now looking for the passenger after the incident along Matang highway.
KUCHING: Police are on the hunt for a man who caused injuries to a Grab driver with a hammer and an air gun in an incident along Matang highway.
Sarawak CID Chief Denis Leong said the 40-year-old victim suffered injuries to his head after he was hit with a hammer and a red mark on his chest caused by the air gun in the incident about 2.30pm today.
“The victim was sent to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment,” he said in a statement here today.
Leong said the victim had picked up a passenger, believed to be a foreigner, from Kuching Sentral and headed to the Jentayu strawberry farm.
He said the suspect requested the driver to stop at the side of the road along Matang highway.
“The passenger suddenly hit the victim on his head with a hammer and shot him with a BB gun before escaping into the jungle nearby,” he said.
On Wednesday, Mohd Hanafiee Jaafar, a 27-year-old Grab driver who had been missing since last Friday, was found murdered after a robbery in Sabah.
His body was found dumped near the bushes in Sabandar, Tuaran. He had been stabbed multiple times in the chest.

Sabah police have arrested two men in connection with the killing.
