PETALING JAYA: Some 50,000 visitors are expected to attend Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s open house at his official residence in Seri Perdana on the first day of the Hari Raya celebrations this Wednesday.
The open house, the second Mahathir has hosted since taking over as prime minister after the May 9 election last year, will run from 10am to 4.30pm.
In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Department said free bus services would be provided at Putrajaya Sentral, Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Masjid Putra every 15 to 20 minutes from 9.30am onwards.
Last year, tens of thousands attended Mahathir’s Raya open house at Seri Perdana in Putrajaya.
The event earned him criticism from his former party Umno, which contrasted it with the Agong’s decision not to hold a Hari Raya open house at Istana Negara that year.
