SHAH ALAM: Repair works on a 1,800mm main pipe in Setia Alam, which burst and caused water disruption in 84 areas in Klang and nine areas in Kuala Langat today, are expected to be completed by noon tomorrow.
Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd said water supply would be restored as soon as the repair works were completed and supply recovery would be carried out in stages depending on distance and location.
The National Water Services Commission’s (SPAN) chief executive officer, Ahmad Faizal Abdul, advised consumers to use water prudently.
“We hope it will be resolved within 24 hours and consumers will not have any water woes for a long time,” he told reporters at the site where the pipe burst.
SPAN chairman Charles Santiago said the cause would be identified after the repair works were carried out.
Santiago, who is the MP for Klang, said this was the second major burst pipe incident in Klang within weeks.
On May 5, three major pipes near the construction site of the West Coast Highway in Bukit Rajah, Klang burst, causing water supply disruption to thousands of consumers.
