Woman attacks husband with iron rod after row over online gambling

KOTA KINABALU: A scrap metal collector suffered injuries to the face and body after being attacked by his wife with an iron rod at their home in Lahad Datu on Sabah’s east coast last week.

The 38-year-old man from Sarawak had been involved in an argument with his Sabahan wife over her online gambling activities.

The mother of six was walking back and forth in their house, searching for network reception on her mobile phone.

Lahad Datu police chief Nasri Mansor said the woman, 40, became enraged when her husband rebuked her and charged at him with the rod.

The event took place at about 10pm.

The man lodged a police report the next day, and police arrested the woman at 2am today. The iron rod used in the assault was seized as well.

Nasri said the woman, who underwent a drug test, is also suspected of being a drug addict.

The couple have been married since 2004.
