PUTRAJAYA: Mohamed Azmin Ali today suggested he only knew the individual in the centre of the gay sex video from afar.
The economics affairs minister, who has since denied he is the person in video clips featuring two men engaging in gay sex, said he only knew of Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz as he is a party member.
“He was with PKR before joining the opposition, but after we (Pakatan Harapan) won (the May 9 polls), he returned to PKR.
“This is the type of character who is being used in coming up with such lies,” he told reporters after attending a Raya do by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) here today.
Yesterday, Haziq shocked the nation with a 30-second video clip uploaded on Facebook, in which he said he was the person seen in several viral video clips showing two men performing homosexual acts, one of whom resembles a senior minister.
The aide to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, who has since been suspended, named Azmin as the other person in the video, a claim the latter says is aimed at killing his political career.
Azmin has also threatened legal action.
Earlier today, Haziq, in a Facebook post, said that the sex romp he claimed he had with Azmin Ali was not the first, before listing the times and venues where the alleged romps took place.
Today, Azmin said he would not lodge a police report on the allegations as one had been already been lodged by his political secretary.
“Based on the advice by my lawyers, that report is sufficient for the police to probe the matter.”
Azmin said that his current focus was to ensure that the nation’s economy continued to flourish and ensure investor confidence remained high.
“I am too busy with my ministry. It is a huge ministry. I am not here to talk politics as I want to focus on serving the rakyat.”
