Cops arrest Haziq at KLIA
The Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Aziz had admitted that he was one of two men filmed engaging in homosexual acts at a hotel last month.
His lawyer, Ramesh Sivakumar, said Haziq was picked by police at the airport in Sepang here this evening as he was departing.
“I am on my way to the police station there,” he told FMT.
Later, Ramesh said a police team had taken Haziq to Bukit Aman for investigations.
“I do not know whether he is a suspect or witness in the probe.
“If he is a suspect, police must produce him before a magistrate tomorrow morning to further detain him to complete their investigations,” he said, adding that he was now heading to the federal police headquarters.
He said police in Sepang were reluctant to reveal under what provision of the law the case had been classified following several police reports made.
Haziq, the private secretary of Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, said the videos, which he claimed were recorded without his permission, were taken on May 11 at the Four Points hotel in Sandakan during the recent by-election there.
He also named Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali as the other person in the video.
Azmin has strongly denied the claim and threatened to take legal action.
Haziq, meanwhile, has been suspended from his position.
Azmin has received the support of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad as well as senior PKR leaders, including party president Anwar Ibrahim.
Mahathir told reporters that the video clips were fake and that Haziq had a political agenda.
Earlier today, he said he had not been called yet to give his statement on the spread of four gay sex videos.
Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador recently confirmed that an investigation paper had been opened into the case.
Haziq’s father Abdul Aziz Ibrahim had earlier filed two police reports in Kuching.
He filed a missing person’s report yesterday after family members failed to locate Haziq.
About 1am today, he filed another report alleging that five policemen had forced their way into his house at 5pm yesterday.

However, he said, they did not harm him or his daughter and that they only wanted to question him about Haziq’s whereabouts and the family’s background.
