Haziq said he was used in ‘dirty game’ against Azmin, says aide

PKR deputy Youth chief Hilman Idham.

PETALING JAYA: The political secretary of Mohamed Azmin Ali today strongly denied claims by Haziq Aziz in a police report filed yesterday, saying he had never threatened him in attempts to make him retract a damning statement accusing the economic affairs minister of having homosexual intercourse with him.

Hilman Idham however said that during their meeting, Haziq told him that he was a victim of a “dirty political game” to bring down Azmin.

“He also said that the video was fake and denied he was in it,” said Hilman.

On Wednesday, Haziq shocked the nation with a 30-second video clip uploaded on Facebook, in which he said he was the person seen in several viral video clips showing two men performing homosexual acts.

The PKR Santubong Youth chief named Azmin as the other person in the video, a claim the PKR deputy president says is aimed at killing his political career. Azmin has also threatened to sue.

Yesterday, Haziq claimed that he was approached by Hilman, a fellow PKR leader, who allegedly forced him to deny that he was the individual in the video.

“He forced me to deny that it was you in the viral video and asked me to lie for you. I asked for more time to consult my parents and this angered him.

“After I refused he made threats and said ‘this’ will be shut down within 48 hours with or without my help to lie,” he said in a Facebook post.

Hilman, who is the PKR deputy Youth chief, confirmed the meeting when he lodged a police report on the matter yesterday but did not elaborate.

Today, he said the two of them met on June 11 at around 2.40pm at the Zest Coffee House at Marriot Hotel. He said this was a personal meeting which no one else knew about.

He denied being angered by Haziq’s request to consult with his family on the matter.

“I advised him that in facing such lies, family is the most important element,” he said.

Hilman said he made another police report at the Putrajaya district police headquarters at around 12.30pm today on Haziq’s police report yesterday which he called “a fake report as well as criminal defamation against me”.
