PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Criminal Investigation Department (CID) says Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam, who was arrested last night, was detained under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from discharging his duties.

In a statement to FMT, Selangor CID chief Fadzil Ahmat said his department’s Classified Criminal Investigation Unit had been with a team from Bukit Aman’s Forensic Department at Lokman’s house in Kajang at around 6.45pm for investigations into a case under Section 504 of the Penal Code.

Section 504 relates to harbouring the intention to insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace.

Fadzil said Lokman was ordered to surrender a mobile phone for inspection, but that he refused to cooperate and began shouting profanities at the police officers.

MIC member N Gobalakrishnan, who was arrested alongside Lokman, also obstructed the police and heckled them, he added.

“Both of them were arrested for obstructing the officers from carrying out their duties, and for uttering profanities against them,” he said.

Both Lokman and Gobalakrishnan, a former Padang Serai MP and PKR vice-president, were taken to the Kajang district police headquarters.

Lokman’s special officer Faizul Ali Anui said last night that Gobalakrishnan was arrested for obstructing the police from their duties after attempting to stop them from taking the phone of Lokman’s wife.

Faizul, who was at Lokman’s house at the time, said he did so as it had nothing to do with the investigations.

Lokman was arrested hours after giving his statement to the police over the gay sex video scandal involving PKR Santubong Youth chief Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz and a man whom he claims is Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali. Azmin has strongly denied the allegations.

Lokman previously filed a police report over the videos as well.
