Primary industries ministry sacks Haziq over ‘unethical’ video confession

Haziq Aziz was earlier suspended following his accusation against Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali over alleged homosexual acts.

PETALING JAYA: The primary industries ministry today announced that it has ended Haziq Aziz’s contract as aide to deputy minister Shamsul Iskandar, about a week after he made a shocking video confession implicating himself and federal minister Mohamed Azmin Ali in a gay sex affair.

In a statement, it said Haziq’s video confession on June 12 was “unethical”.

“The ministry views the matter as a violation of values, ethics and regulations governing public service, including General Orders and contract agreement.”

Adding that Haziq was issued a show-cause letter to which he has replied, it said his contract of service was terminated effective June 18.

Haziq was suspended by the ministry on June 13, a day after making the confession.

He was also given three days to reply to the ministry’s show-cause letter.

Shamsul said at the time that his ministry would not hesitate to terminate Haziq’s contract if the PKR Santubong Youth chief did not respond within the given time frame.

He also said Haziq was hired based on his academic qualifications and experience. “So his actions are extremely shocking and unexpected.”

Haziq, who was accused by Pakatan Harapan leaders of having a political agenda, claimed then that the sex romp he allegedly had with Azmin was not the first.

He also listed the times and venues where these alleged incidents took place.

Azmin has strongly denied the claim, calling it an attempt to kill his political career.
