PETALING JAYA: The lawyer representing PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali has rubbished a dare by Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Aziz to lodge a police report against him and haul him to court over the gay sex video scandal.

“We do not act or respond according to such attention-seeking taunts,” N Surendran tweeted today.

“All legal responses are done as we see fit, according to our timetable and are not imposed by others.”

Haziq recently shocked the nation when he admitted that he was one of two men filmed engaging in homosexual acts at a hotel in Sandakan, Sabah, last month.

The former private secretary to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin also named Azmin as the other person in the video.

Azmin has strongly denied the claim, calling it a nefarious plot to destroy his career, and has threatened to take legal action.

Haziq, who was detained while about to board a plane to Manila, is out on police bail.

He is being probed for several offences, including carnal intercourse against the order of nature and distributing obscene material.

Today, Haziq reiterated that he was not a liar.

He said he wanted the matter brought to court so Malaysians “can see for themselves the evidence”.

He also urged Azmin to lodge a police report against him.

Azmin’s political secretary Hilman Idham has made a police report on the matter while Azmin only had his statement recorded by the police.

Haziq has had his contract with the primary industries ministry terminated.

He has also been issued a show-cause letter by the PKR leadership “for tarnishing the name, image and reputation of the party”.
