AG green-lights fresh charges against Zahid

PETALING JAYA: The Attorney-General’s Chambers has given the green light to bring fresh charges against Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, a day after the former deputy prime minister was questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

A statement by the anti-graft body said Zahid will be charged tomorrow in Kuala Lumpur and in Shah Alam on June 27.

“Zahid will face several charges in both courts under Section 16 (a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009 and 165 of the Penal Code,” it said.

MACC said Zahid, the Umno president who is currently on gardening leave pending the outcome of his criminal breach of trust and money laundering trials, has completed “the final process of investigation” over the Overseas Visa System.
