PETALING JAYA: A Selangor assemblyman has threatened legal action against those linking her to an alleged scandal with Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, saying it can affect her image and credibility as an elected representative.

In a statement, Juwairiya Zulkifli said she has lodged a report with both the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for slander.

“I am aware that there is a lie being spread by irresponsible quarters through a Facebook account called ‘Aku Darah Anak Malaysia-ADAM’ which is attempting to link me to the Selangor menteri besar,” she said.

Allegations linking the Bukit Melawati assemblyman to Amirudin emerged after CCTV recordings taken from a hotel in Sandakan made their rounds on social media.

“I would like to stress that I was never at the alleged location on that particular date,” Juwairiya said.

Amirudin has also denied the claim and is mulling taking legal action.

Rumours linking Amirudin and Juwairiya come in the wake of allegations that a federal minister was involved in a homosexual romp in Sandakan, Sabah.

Haziq Aziz, who has since been sacked from PKR, shocked the nation after confessing that he was one of the two men in a gay sex video.

The former aide to a deputy minister named Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali as the other man, a charge the deputy PKR president denies and says is an attempt to ruin his political career.
