KUALA LUMPUR: Dr Mahathir Mohamad says the government wants to create genuine entrepreneurs and not “lying or cheating” businessmen.
Launching the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030 (DKN2030) today, the prime minister emphasised on the importance of producing entrepreneurs with integrity and discipline.
“No entrepreneurs can succeed without discipline and determination, as well as a positive attitude and the courage to take risks,” he said.
DKN2030 is aimed at creating a holistic ecosystem for entrepreneurs and to promote entrepreneurship.
Mahathir said the new policy will also emphasise on education and training.
“This is important because all entrepreneurs must be prepared to face Industry Revolution 4.0. (IR 4.0),” he said.
Meanwhile, Entrepreneur Development Minister Redzuan Yusof said DKN2030 was a holistic policy for all entrepreneurs across industries.
“The existing ecosystem which we can improve will open the door to more opportunities for all Malaysians including the bottom 40 (B40).”
Speaking to reporters later, Redzuan said DKN2030 was an improvement from past initiatives.
“We are refining it, consolidating it and improving it.
“The most important thing is the implementation. There were weaknesses and we try to overcome it.”
