Name him, Kit Siang dares Najib over PPBM formation claim
The DAP supremo says Malaysians deserve to know the identity of the individual who could convince the prime minister of a scheme to split the Malays.
PETALING JAYA: Lim Kit Siang has challenged Najib Razak to name the individual at the centre of a claim by the former prime minister that DAP had proposed for PPBM to be set up in a bid to divide the Malays.
The DAP supremo, who yesterday had laughed off the allegation, said Malaysians deserved to know the person who was able to convince Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad of such a scheme.
“Over to Najib, who is this person, if there is one?” he asked in a statement.
The Iskandar Puteri MP said he will not bet on Najib naming the said individual, “though if such a person exists, it will at least salvage his credibility by one iota that he had not manufactured such a lie”.
Lim was responding to Najib’s speech made when attending the Pendang Umno delegates’ meeting.
According to Utusan Malaysia, the top adviser for Barisan Nasional alleged that Lim had mooted for the formation of a new Malay party to Mahathir, which eventually led to the creation of PPBM.
The former Umno president was also reported to have said that this was meant to create infighting among the Malays and lead to their eventual downfall.
Lim said that even before the May 9 polls, he had been accused of being the mastermind of all Pakatan Harapan’s plans.
He said Umno had accused Mahathir of being his stooge while MCA and Gerakan accused him of being Mahathir’s puppet.
