Ex-JKR officers still paid RM190,000 in salaries, says A-G’s Report

PETALING JAYA: The auditor-general (A-G) today said the government paid over RM190,000 in salaries last year to officers who have left the civil service.

Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid said his audit department found that 14 former officers from the Public Works Department (JKR) were paid RM193,023.57 in salary in 2018.

“The government needs to collect back the money that was paid out,” he said in his 2018 audit report, released today.

He also said JKR paid RM93,095 in compensation for land for the East Coast Economic Region project in Kuala Lipis, Pahang.

“The actual amount for compensation was only RM46,547.50, but JKR officers paid the amount twice due to negligence,” he said.

He added that the government had attempted to recover the other RM46,547.50 but was unable to do so.

Nik Azman also said the audit department had found three cases of fake notes totalling RM250 at the Road Transport Department last year.

However, no police reports were found regarding the fake notes, nor reports to the Treasury secretary-general.
