PETALING JAYA: Forensic experts from Indonesia have confirmed a gay-sex video implicating a federal minister is authentic, Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam said today.

A full report of the forensic analysis will be given to the Inspector-General of Police and also to opposition leader Ismail Sabri Yaakob who could then use the report in Parliament to press for Azmin’s resignation. (Azmin is federal minister of economic affairs.)

Lokman said that when the videos were enhanced the faces of the two men featured in the clip became clearer.

“And while the experts did not say that one of the performers in the video was Azmin Ali, they said the man’s face was a match with Azmin.”

Lokman said the experts were sent about 20 still pictures and 12 videos obtained from YouTube and Facebook showing PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, as well as two videos of two men engaging in homosexual acts.

The experts, he added, also dismissed claims that the videos were the result of “deep fake” technology, in which videos are digitally altered by combining and superimposing other images and videos on the original material.

“The experts have analysed the video and say that the video recording is authentic and there is no evidence of manipulation or editing,” he said.

Lokman did not reveal the identity of the company that conducted the analyses. He said that the 18-page report was not meant for public consumption.

Lokman’s revelation comes two days after the IGP, Abdul Hamid Bador, had revealed that an analysis of the video by CyberSecurity Malaysia found that it was very likely authentic.

Hamid, however, added that the facial recognition process results were “negative and the person in the video cannot be linked to the individual in question”.

He also said police investigations showed that a group, masterminded by a leader of a political party, was behind the clips which were aimed at “slandering and tarnishing the reputation of certain individuals”.

Former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Aziz has admitted to being one of two people in the video showing two men engaging in sex acts. He named Azmin as the other person, a claim the economic affairs minister has strongly denied.

Police have so far arrested nine people for investigations, including Haziq and Perak PKR leader Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who is also PKR president Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary.
