PUTRAJAYA: PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin today hit out at Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who challenged Inspector-General of Police Hamid Bador to detain Mohamed Azmin Ali.
“Isn’t that the job of the police if they want to detain anyone?
“If the police say it is wrong, then detain. If there is nothing wrong, then why do they want to detain?” she said after officiating the Fund MyHome Scheme today here.
Farhash, who is also political secretary to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, had questioned the necessity to detain him.
He believed this is because there is “a conspiracy against Anwar Ibrahim”.
He then challenged the IGP to detain Azmin, who is PKR deputy president.
Farhash was released from police custody yesterday, together with former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Aziz and others, a week after being arrested over gay sex videos that have gone viral.
Haziq Aziz, former head of Santubong PKR Youth, had admitted last month that he was one of two men in the videos shown to be engaging in sex acts.
He had named Azmin as the other person in the videos, a claim strenuously denied by Azmin, who is also economic affairs minister.
Meanwhile, when asked if any action would be taken against Farhash, Zuraida said she would give Farhash “some time” to stabilise himself as he had been remanded under police custody for a quite some time and might not be aware of what was happening outside or the latest developments.
“We will see what is his answer then … maybe he was a bit ‘confused’ while there (in detention).
