PETALING JAYA: Farhash Wafa Salvador, the political secretary to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, has been arrested by the police.

The police had been looking for the Perak PKR chief over a brawl in Ampang on Aug 31.

In a statement, Selangor CID chief Fadzil Ahmat said Farhash was arrested when he turned himself in at the Ampang Jaya police station at 10am today.

“The suspect is being investigated,” said Fadzil, adding that Farhash tested negative for drugs.

“He was released on police bail at around 5pm. The case will be referred to the Selangor prosecution office.”

Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador had said during the weekend that his men still wanted to take a statement from Farhash over the brawl at a sports complex in Ampang despite the complainant withdrawing his police report against Farhash.

The fight involving about a dozen men took place at the Arena All Stars Sports Complex at Taman Dagang Permai. Police arrested five men, aged between 22 and 38, including the complainant, for questioning.

Farhash denied involvement in the incident and said he was willing to give his full cooperation to the police, if needed.

In a statement later, Farhash said he only showed up at the police station today as he was away on a diving trip, adding he went to give his statement as soon as he returned.

He said he gave his full cooperation to the police and was informed that the complainant had withdrawn the report against his brother.

He also told police he was not involved in the fight.

“The complainant also did not identify me as one of the participants during the identification parade,” he said.

“It is hoped that everyone will remain fair and reasonable in making remarks when it concerns an ongoing police investigation.”
