PETALING JAYA: Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng has been urged to lodge an MACC report if he really had no knowledge of a ministry letter regarding the award of a RM450 million project in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, by direct negotiation.
Wee said the letter, released by a contractor of the finance ministry, clearly stated that the project had received the agreement of the minister.
“If the finance minister did not know about this letter then he should make a report to the police or to the MACC quickly. This is misconduct and a serious misuse of power,” said Wee in a Facebook posting today.
An image of the letter from the ministry was posted on Twitter by Umno Seputeh vice chief Mohd Razlan Rafii, who questioned why projects were still being awarded by Pakatan Harapan through direct negotiation.
Earlier today, Lim said he needed more time to study the letter and to discuss it with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad. When pressed by a reporter, Lim retorted in return, asking if the letter was signed by him.
