Clip surfaces of ‘missing woman’ leaving condo with trio killed in Batu Arang shootout
Lawyer P Uthayakumar says the clip is proof that Moganambal Govindasamy was present with the three men during the incident.
KUALA LUMPUR: A CCTV recording of a woman at the centre of a dispute over the police’s version of a fatal shootout in Batu Arang last week has emerged, in what her family’s lawyer said is proof that she had been with three men just hours before they were killed.
Lawyer P Uthayakumar said the clip showed Moganambal Govindasamy, who was said to be the fourth person in the car alongside her husband V Janarthanan and two others.
“This is evidence that she left together with them. Where is she now?” he said when met at the funeral service for Janarthanan and another man killed in the shootout on Sept 14.
The footage released by Uthayakumar shows a woman leaving an elevator at The Henge condominium in Kepong, at 10.33pm on Sept 13, hours before the shootout, accompanied by her husband Janarthanan and the two other men.
In the incident, Janarthanan, a Sri Lankan British permanent resident, his brother-in-law Thavaselvan Govindasamy (Moganambal’s brother) and Maghendran Santhirasegaran were shot dead.
Police claimed they refused to stop when they were ordered to pull over at Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, before a 7km chase ensued which ended in Batu Arang.
Police also said Thavaselvan and Maghendran were wanted for gang-related crimes.
But Moganambal and Thavaselvan’s father, Govindasamy, later claimed that his daughter was also with the trio at the time of the incident.
