IPOH: A woman died after watching thugs vandalising her son’s car last night. Later, her home and four vehicles belonging to family members were destroyed in a fire believed to have been caused by the same men.
M. Abiramy, 44, fainted when she saw the men damaging a Honda Accord belonging to one of her sons, and was pronounced dead on arrival at Ipoh hospital some 30 minutes later, her eldest child N.Nineswari, 29, said.
A neighbour who declined to be named said that he saw four men vandalising a car parked by a single-story wooden house. They had arrived at the house on two motorcycles at about 7pm.
They returned about one hour later to cause further damage before setting fire to the home, he said. “I was too scared to do anything…I could only watch.”
No one was inside the one-storey wooden house where the family of eight, including six children, had lived.
Ipoh district acting police chief Supt Mohamad Nordin Abdullah said investigations showed that prior to the incident, there had been an argument between Abiramy’s son, N. Thana Seelan, 23, and a man at a temple in Jalan Spooner at about 5pm.
The argument was allegedly over Thana Seelan having concealed several cows belonging to the man.
