Police record statement from Nga over Facebook post

Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming is being investigated for alleged sedition, says Bukit Aman.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police at Bukit Aman today recorded Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming’s statement in connection with a Facebook page that allegedly insulted the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

The Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker, who arrived at about 1.30pm, was seen leaving the police headquarters at 3pm in an official vehicle.

He was accompanied by Perak assembly speaker Ngeh Khoo Ham, Jelutong MP RSN Rayer, Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, Batu Gajah MP V Sivakumar and several Perak DAP leaders.

Speaking to reporters later, he urged police to take action against former prime minister Najib Razak over the alleged defamatory statement made against him on his Facebook page.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed said an investigation was being conducted against Nga under Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act.

The statement that allegedly insulted the Selangor ruler had been made through the Facebook account of “Nga Kor Ming Super Fans Page’ last month.
