MACC gets 20 graft complaints involving judiciary in over 2 months
MACC chief Latheefa Koya says the reports it received involved lower court judges.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has received 20 reports of corruption involving members of the judiciary since August, its chief commissioner Latheefa Koya said.
She said the complaints involved judges from the lower courts and other lower ranked judicial officers.
Latheefa described the complaints as worrying, saying she hoped the number would drop sharply in future.
“This should continue until the Malaysian judiciary is free of corruption,” she told reporters at an event to mark the National Integrity Day at the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
She declined to give more details, but said the graft reports were mostly about bribery and power abuse.
“We will announce when we are ready to remand (suspects) and launch investigations,” she added.

Last month, MACC remanded a shariah court judge for allegedly receiving RM4,000 from a police inspector to settle a khalwat case.
