Stop pushing for govt without DAP, Amanah, PH warns Hisham
PH states that it strongly holds on to the agreed consensus by its component parties — PKR, PPBM Amanah and DAP.
PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has urged Umno’s Hishammuddin Hussein to stop pushing for a government without DAP and Amanah.
In a joint statement released today, PH stated that it “strongly” holds on to the agreed consensus by its component parties — PKR, PPBM Amanah and DAP.
The statement was signed by PH secretariat chief Saifuddin Abdullah, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution and his counterparts from PPBM and Amanah, Marzuki Yahya and Anuar Tahir; and DAP national organising secretary Loke Siew Fook.
“Hishammuddin, in his writings, has shown a tendency towards race-based politics and governance.
“This is outdated and in conflict with the inclusive politics that PH is practising,” the statement added.
It reminded Hishammuddin of Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s initial goal, which was to create a united Malaysia with shared objectives.
It pointed out that the people had, in the May 9 polls last year, rejected the Barisan Nasional, a coalition inclined to communal politics, and dragged the country into a global kleptocratic scandal.
This, it said, was the basis for the mandate given to PH, which should not be pawned off for political interest.
Earlier this week, Mahathir had turned down an invitation from Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan for PH to form a so-called unity government with BN, PAS and other parties in Sarawak and Sabah.

The PH chairman said PH had no interest in forming a unity government with the opposition, as the existing Cabinet is made up of ministers of various racial backgrounds, in line with Malaysia’s diverse cultures.
