No vague answers please, DAP man tells Dr M over rumour
Charles Santiago says the prime minister should have sent a clear message that the PH government is here to stay.
PETALING JAYA: Klang MP Charles Santiago has urged Dr Mahathir Mohamad to categorically reject rumours that PPBM was colluding with the opposition to form a government.
The DAP leader said the prime minister’s response to reporters when asked about the matter was not convincing.
“Instead of his reply which goes like this, ‘They can try’, Mahathir could have tried harder to convey the message that the Pakatan Harapan government is here to stay and he has no intention whatsoever of ditching his partners.
“Mahathir must send a succinct message to the opposition to stop trying,” Santiago said in a statement.
On Tuesday, four PH parties in a joint statement accused Umno’s Hishammuddin Hussein of trying to push for a government without DAP and Amanah.
The Sembrong MP, who was among Umno leaders who joined Mahathir at the Malay Dignity Congress early this month, has denied the claim, saying he had instead been promoting unity.
Santiago said Mahathir must stop giving “vague answers” which “won’t quell rumours”, adding that the PPBM chairman’s meetings between some opposition leaders including Hishammuddin had only fuelled suspicion.
“It’s good to remember that Pakatan Harapan’s mandate comes from the people.
