Nasharudin to be charged under money-laundering law tomorrow
MACC says he was arrested after making his statement in Putrajaya and released on bail.
PETALING JAYA: Former PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa will be charged in court tomorrow with offences under the law against money-laundering.
The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission said Nasharudin was arrersted at 2pm after he had made a statement at MACC headquarters in Putrajaya. He was subsequently released on MACC bail.
Details relating to the case will be released tomorrow after the charges are read, MACC said.
He will be charged at the Shah Alam Sessions Court under the Anti Money-Laundering and Anti Terrorism Financing Act 2001 and the Penal Code.
In February, Nasharudin was questioned for six hours by the MACC in relation to claims that PAS had received RM90 million from Umno. The funds had allegedly come from 1MDB.
PAS and Umno have repeatedly denied the allegation.
Nasharudin said at the time that he was asked to provide financial statements from his personal account and the now-defunct Global Movement of Moderates organisation, of which he was executive chairman. He said he had cooperated and explained everything as required.
