Angry with Ronnie Liu, PPBM rep wants to sit with opposition in assembly
Jeram assemblyman Mohd Shaid Rosli has sent an official request to the speaker of the Selangor state assembly to sit with the opposition as a sign of protest.
PETALING JAYA: Jeram assemblyman Mohd Shaid Rosli has requested to sit with the opposition bloc in the Selangor state assembly.
In his statement, Shaid said that he is requesting this as a sign of protest against DAP Central Executive Committee member Ronnie Liu for criticising Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is PPBM chairman.
When contacted, Shaid said DAP should not “threaten” PPBM.
“Don’t think we are scared. PPBM is not scared. PPBM members left Umno even when Umno was in power,” he said.
Liu, in a statement, had cautioned Mahathir against making remarks that are not in line with PH’s values.
He claimed the prime minister was pushing for a dominant Malay-based party to control the coalition, citing the acceptance of former Umno politicians into PPBM.
The Sungai Pelek assemblyman also hit out at Mahathir over the continuation of laws which he termed were repressive, the decision not to deport controversial preacher Dr Zakir Naik back to India, and the failure to specify a date to hand over power to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
Liu’s comments triggered an angry response from PPBM leaders, with the party’s youth wing urging DAP to take disciplinary action against him.
In a Facebook post today, DAP organising secretary Loke Siew Fook said the party viewed Liu’s statement as an act of sabotage which could affect the unity and stability of PH.
