KOTA KINABALU: A Year 1 pupil was admitted to hospital in a critical condition after a dog attacked her on her way home from school on Friday, Sabah education director Mistrine Radin said.

The pupil, from SK Lipasu, Ranau, some 100km from here, was warded at the district hospital.

She was later moved to the Women and Children Hospital in Likas here. She was reported to be in stable condition now, Radin said.

The girl was with several friends when the dog attacked them, about 300 metres from her school. Her friends ran back to school to seek help.

The school’s security guard went to the girl’s rescue and carried her back to the school.

“Teachers at the school rushed her to the Ranau Hospital,” she said.

Radin said the victim’s father was late to pick the girl up from school and she decided to walk home.
