PETALING JAYA: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim says the PH Presidential Council meeting today did not discuss whether to approach Dr Mahathir Mohamad now that he has been reinstated as PPBM chairman.
Anwar said this when replying to questions from the media on whether PH would approach Mahathir.
“No. That did not arise (in the meeting) but anything can happen. (The situation) changes day by day,” he said as he left the meeting at a hotel here.
However, Anwar added: “We are still PH and Tun has left PH.”
On Mahathir becoming PPBM chairman again, Anwar said it was the interim prime minister’s decision.
Earlier today, it was reported that Mahathir had accepted the PPBM chairman’s post after resigning on Monday.
He had resigned as chairman after party president Muhyiddin Yassin announced the party’s exit from PH. The party’s Supreme Council, however, had rejected Mahathir’s resignation.
Yesterday, PH named Anwar as their candidate for prime minister after Mahathir declined their request to rehabilitate the PH-led government.
