GEORGE TOWN: Penang executive councillor Dr Afif Bahardin has pledged his support for the Pakatan Harapan state government led by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
The Seberang Jaya assemblyman, who was seen as aligned to sacked PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, also expressed his loyalty to the party.
Afif has been issued a show cause letter by the PKR disciplinary board over his alleged involvement in a ruckus during the youth wing’s national congress in Melaka last December.
“I’ve always been committed to serve the party, my loyalty should not be questioned. I am ready to accept the decision of the disciplinary board. My conscience is clear,” he said after closing a health conference at Komtar today.
He said he would carry on his duties as an exco member and assemblyman.
Asked about his links to Azmin Ali, he said Azmin was an old friend.
PKR members and PH supporters had questioned who Afif would support following the collapse of the PH federal government and the swearing in of Muhyiddin Yassin as the new prime minister.
Muhyiddin is leading a coalition called Perikatan Harapan comprising PPBM, Barisan Nasional, PAS and former PKR MPs aligned to Azmin.
