KUALA LUMPUR: Activist Marina Mahathir says she was reminded of the situation that existed in Malaysia before the May 2018 general election after she arrived at the Dang Wangi police headquarters today to give her statement over a recent protest in the city.
“It was nostalgic. It’s like we are back to before May 2018,” she told reporters, apparently referring to Pakatan Harapan winning the 14th general election.
Marina, the daughter of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said she would be cooperating with the police in their investigations.
She was among the 12 people called to give their statements over a protest in front of Sogo following the appointment of Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister.
The investigation is being conducted under the Peaceful Assembly Act.
