KUALA LUMPUR: Dr Mahathir Mohamad has paid tribute to health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and medical workers for their efforts in the battle against Covid-19.
The former prime minister and his wife Dr Siti Hasmah Ali, in a video posted on his Twitter in conjunction with World Doctors Day on March 30, thanked Noor Hisham for leading the efforts to contain the deadly virus.
“Previous outbreaks were not as widespread as the Covid-19 virus,” he said.
He said Noor Hisham “seems to be working day and night to ensure that all necessary actions are carried out by his officers”.
He also praised health ministry officials for their efforts and sacrifices.
Earlier, Noor Hisham said every health officer both in the public and private sectors had shown a high level of commitment in the fight against Covid-19.
He also played down the title of “hero” given to him by Malaysians on social media, saying it was not important.
