We know you, tax office tells Covid-19 applicants amid online deluge
LHDN says it has the data needed to disburse aid to those qualified.
PETALING JAYA: Inundated with online applications from those seeking cash under Putrajaya’s Covid-19 stimulus package, the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) today clarified that money would be automatically paid to those qualified as long as they have tax numbers.
In a statement, LHDN said only those without tax accounts need to register online.
It said recipients of the Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) cash aid will automatically get their payments as part of the RM250 billion stimulus package announced by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin last week.
The new cash aid comes under Bantuan Prihatin National (BPN), which will be distributed at the end of April and May.
“The amount will be based on the taxpayers’ income and other conditions set by the government,” LHDN said.
The payout will be based on their income level, with RM1,600 going to households earning up to RM4,000 a month, and RM1,000 to households earning RM4,000 to RM8,000 a month.
Singles aged 21 and above earning up to RM2,000 a month will receive RM800, and
those 21 and above earning RM2,000 to RM4,000 a month will receive RM500.
Every student studying at an institute of higher education will receive RM200.
LHDN advised the people to check their status at https://www.hasil.gov.my or
https://bpn.hasil.gov.my.
If the status shows ‘off the record’, they may click on the ‘New Application’ button, it said.
New online applications are open until April 30.
However, it said that due to high traffic at its official portals, people may not be able to log in to its website, and advised them to do so during off-peak hours.
They may also make enquiries at LHDN live chat or log in at its Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LHDNM.
